A teapot can look right in a product photo and still be the wrong size for your table or the wrong design for the way you serve tea. When shopping online, the useful questions are specific: how much does it hold, how large is it, what is it made from and how should it be used? This checklist helps you compare listings without assuming that every teapot has the same features.
Compare capacity with the cups you use
Begin with how you normally serve tea. A small personal pot and a pot intended for guests solve different needs. Check the stated capacity in millilitres or litres, and ask whether it describes the full vessel or its recommended usable fill.
Do not rely only on a claim such as ‘four cups’. Cups and mugs differ in size. As a planning example, a stated 600 ml capacity equals three 200 ml portions mathematically; it does not guarantee three usable servings after allowing for the product's recommended fill level.
- Check the capacity of the exact size or variant selected.
- Compare it with a measured cup at home.
- Ask for clarification if the listing gives only a serving count.
Separate serving use from heating use
Look for the precise material and the manufacturer's intended use. Do not assume that a serving teapot can go directly on a stove, in a microwave or in an oven. A material name alone does not confirm that a particular item or its handle, lid and decoration can tolerate a heating method.
If those instructions are missing, ask the seller before ordering. The same approach applies to cleaning: dishwasher suitability should be stated for that product, not inferred from a similar-looking model.
Look closely at the lid, handle and strainer
Use the available photos to inspect how the lid sits, the space around the handle and the shape of the spout. Photos are useful for understanding a design, but they cannot prove that a pot pours without drips or that its handle stays cool. Ask about those features if they matter to you.
If you use loose tea, check whether a strainer is included and whether it can be removed for cleaning. Product photos sometimes show styling items that are not part of the purchase. Confirm the exact contents rather than assuming that cups, a tray or a spoon are included.
- Read ‘what is included’ and the variant description.
- Check the opening and listed dimensions.
- Confirm replacement or spare-part availability if it is important to you.
Check the total and delivery conditions
Compare the item price together with any confirmed delivery charge. At BeachMarket, a request with unconfirmed delivery charges needs your approval of the full COD total before fulfillment. An order number identifies that request; it is not automatically a courier tracking number.
Save the listing information and order number, and read the applicable return policy before purchasing. If the description leaves an important question unanswered, contact support instead of treating an attractive product name as a specification.
